隸屬于美國軍方的某神秘機構，正在進行著一項隱形技術的研究。科學家塞巴斯蒂安·凱恩（凱文·培根 Kevin Bacon 飾）是這支小組的主要負責人，經過多年的努力，他們的研究在動物身上已經初見成效。急功近利的塞巴斯蒂安無視藥物的不穩(wěn)定性，執(zhí)意在自己身上嘗試。該藥物的隱形效果非常出色，但是塞巴斯蒂安卻無法恢復正常。為此，他的搭檔琳達·福斯特（伊莉莎白·舒爾 Elisabeth Shue 飾）和馬特·肯辛頓（喬希·布魯林 Josh Brolin飾）抓緊解藥的開發(fā)，而塞巴斯蒂安卻越來越喜歡隱形的感覺，透明的狀態(tài)讓他可以為所欲為。為了保持現(xiàn)有狀態(tài)，他變得喪心病狂……
